Don’t let it stay in Vegas
Without a doubt, last year’s conference impacted my desire to learn more about driving highly targeted traffic to my web sites. I really enjoyed the sessions on “hyper-local” blogs, Google pay per click campaigns, and others that gave me ideas on new and exciting ways to improve my blogging efforts.
To me, it is very obvious that the “re.net” is ahead of many industries in the blogging and social media space. Our embracing of online promotion is impressive, yet as an industry we have a long way to go. There truly is a small percentage of agents that “get it”, and an even smaller percentage of real estate agents that are turning “clicks into deposit slips”.
Attending a conference like REBlogWorld can be one of the most important decisions a real estate agent makes in learning new ways to promote their business. Blogs and social media are simply tools at our disposal. Every one in our industry has to decide which tools fit their unique style and comfort level. I can vividly remember when fax machines and this “new thing” called the internet were new to my real estate business. The fax was high tech, and many thought the internet would put agents out of business. My how times change. Clearly, the web allows us to share more information, which in turn allows us to show our expertise to more people 24 hours a day.
When planning for REBlogWorld, we had several discussions on how to bring value to attendees by making this THE place to be for industry experts to gain cutting edge knowledge. While I am convinced we will deliver in that department, I am also convinced it will be a great resource for people interested in seeing what all of the buzz is about with this “new” blogging thing. It’s not a magic bullet or a purple pill. It is a new tool for your arsenal. For some, decisions will be made to leave “traditional” marketing methods behind. For others, it is a balance of “old meets new”. That’s one of the beautiful things about this business, the fact that we have MANY choices and many ways to share our message and our worth.
The knowledge that can be gained by attending a conference with many of the top bloggers in the country is invaluable. Meeting, talking with, and learning from these people can be just the spark you need. Most of us know, it’s the networking and hallway conversations where much of the really good stuff happens. If you aren’t there, you miss out. “What happens in Vegas” can change your career.
